Ashtey Khayil (Women of Valor) is the women’s organization of Aydat HaDerekh Messianic Synagogue in Fort Myers, Florida. Together we are learning how to keep a Jewish home, observe the Moedim, and also – just as important – fulfil the daily mitzvot. So much of our personal and national observance is in our homes and our community; Judaism is to be lived, not visited!
Ashtey Khayil Talmidot is our study group. We meet monthly to discuss what we’re reading, to practice a bit of Hebrew, and to enjoy a deeper dive into the prayers and readings of our siddur.
Talmidot meetings are currently on ZOOM, the next one is scheduled on Monday July 20th, 2020 at 6:30pm – 8:00. Our meetings are divided into three half-hour segments.
From 6:30 – 7:00 everyone shares something from what they’re reading. We use the Koren Siddur with Introduction, Translation, and Commentary by Rabbi Jonathan Sacks in our Schul, so his “Understanding Jewish Prayer” at the beginning of the siddur is a great place to start. We also have a Recommended Reading post under Talmidot in the menu.
From 7:00 – 7:30 we work on our Hebrew. Everyone’s at a different level so sometimes we work on the alef-bet and pronunciation and other times we work on meaning and vocabulary. During our May meeting we will work through some of T’hillim 93, the Shir Shel Yom (the Daily Psalm) for the 6th day.
From 7:30 – 8:00 Rebbetzin Ronyt Bernstein will continue teachings on the siddur. Prior teachings can be found under Siddur in the menu. Our July meeting will be a continuation of our study on P’sukei D’zimra found on pages 402 – 450 in our siddur.
For security purposes, we do not post ZOOM links on this site. If you wish to join our meetings, please call Aydat HaDerekh Messianic Synagogue 239.246.3868.
